Now onboarding our first Raleigh–Triangle communities — launching 2026

Daily companion care for senior living

Your dog gets a walk.
Your mom gets a visit.
Someone gets a second chance.

A bonded, insured dog-walking and check-in service for retirement communities — run by people rebuilding their lives, and paid a real living wage to do it.

The dog, well-walked

Consistent daily walks — once, twice, as often as your pup needs. Easygoing dogs walk together; the handful who need one-on-one get exactly that.

A friendly face, daily

The same caregiver, every day. A little conversation, a quiet look-in on how the day's going — the kind of visit that makes a house feel less empty.

Peace of mind, delivered

For the grown kids who worry from three states away: someone reliable sees Mom every single day. That's not a dog walk. That's a weight off your chest.

Why we exist

Two lonely worlds, introduced by a good dog.

Older folks whose companion has become a little hard to walk. And people who've been counted out — the formerly homeless, the ones rebuilding — who just need someone to give them a real shot. We put them in each other's path, over the one thing everybody agrees is worth loving: a dog wagging at the door.

The whole point

It turns out the person walking your dog is smart, funny, and worth knowing — and both of you leave a little less alone than you started.

Every walker earns a real living wage, a real W-2 job, and real dignity. We hire for who someone is becoming, not the worst day they ever had.

Built for trust

The questions a director asks first — answered.

Bonded & insured

Full liability, workers' comp, and care-custody-and-control coverage on every dog and every walker.

The same face, every day

Consistent, vetted caregivers on a regular route — never a rotating stranger. Relationships, not gig-work drop-ins.

Coordinated with your staff

We work to each community's access rules and handoff process. Your policies set the bar; we meet it.

Safety, first and last

A clear on-the-job standard, careful dog matching, and honest limits — we turn down any dog that isn't safe for our people.

How it works

Four easy steps to a happier dog and a brighter day.

1

Tell us about your dog

Size, temperament, how many walks a day, any quirks. We build the right plan.

2

Meet your caregiver

You're introduced to the person who'll be showing up — the same one, day after day.

3

Walks & check-ins begin

Daily walks and a friendly visit, on a schedule you set. Pause or adjust anytime.

4

Breathe easier

The dog's happy, the day's got a bright spot, and someone's keeping a gentle eye out.

The pack

Meet Buddy & Spike.

Wag the Dog started with two dogs and a simple truth: a good dog is one of the best things that can happen to someone who’s a little lonely — and one of the hardest to keep up with once the years catch up. So we built the help we wished existed. [Founder’s note — personalize this.]

Buddy, a tan-and-white dog

Buddy Budson

The big gentle guardian — soulful eyes, endless patience, will sit with you as long as you need.

Spike, a small fawn dog with big ears

Spike

The little firecracker — all ears and heart, greets every single day like it’s the best one yet.
